Registration is one of the most important stages of the publishing process, primarily because it is the stage most commonly missed by a lot of people. It is also the only stage that has legal consequences if skipped.
Important things to think about at the Registration Stage:
1. Registration of your book's ISBN number makes your book legal and protects your IP as it stops someone else registering a book with the same title
2. Registration of your books barcode makes your book saleable and means your book is therefore published (not just printed) which means you are able to distribute your book in bookstores
3. It is illegal to sell a book in any commercial format if it is not registered
Make sure everything in your book is finalised before you look at registration, as if any detail changes eg. number of pages, year of publication, contributors names, RRP etc. your registration becomes invalid and your book needs to be re-registered.
